2021/3 was an exciting time at SP1, after we took ownership of the building and opened up the pathway for the structural changes we needed to make. We worked hard to re-create the studio as we had planned into a much more exciting and rewarding place to be! We had long dreamt of re-creating the feeling of our first studio from Hatton but on a larger scale with our HA300 CNC Clay mill sunk in the floor and to have an exciting open plan upstairs office with you’ve got it a beer tap and sweet machines!

2022+ Studio 2

2017-21 Studio 2

It wasn’t long after we opened our Hatton design office in 2012 that the clients requirements pushed us to our limits in size and capability, the need for clay space and measuring equipment and then prototyping machines pushed us to find a larger studio! This was a hard task in 2012 ! There wasn’t much available that would work in size or location but we eventually found something suitable and we moulded it as best we could at the time! Due to it being rented we couldn’t change it structurally! As time went on and we struggled with suppliers during covid we added more in house capabilities starting with a single CNC HA180 machine and growing further prototype facilities.

2012-2016  Studio 1

In 2012 we opening SP1’s first studio! With space for 4-5 people the initial goal was to create an enjoyable small scale design studio to tackle some of the outsourced surfacing and design projects we had been requested to take on! It wasn’t long before friends and new staff members turned up at the door and we organically grew and took on larger projects as the clients needs grew.
